Overview

This is a personal website. I am committed to being transparent about what information is collected when you visit ootola.com or dev.ootola.com and how it is used. This policy covers both — together referred to below as “this site” — and applies to every page on either.

Information Collected

When you submit the contact form, I collect your name, email address, phone number (if provided), and message. This information is submitted directly to me via email.

ootola.com uses Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors interact with the site. dev.ootola.com uses Google Analytics only, as a separate property. These services may automatically collect data such as your IP address, browser type, pages visited, and time spent on the site.

ootola.com also uses Ahrefs Web Analytics, which is cookieless by design: it counts page views without setting cookies, storing anything on your device, or being able to identify you.

How It's Used

Information submitted via the contact form is used solely to respond to your enquiry. Analytics data is used to understand site usage, improve content, and identify technical issues. No personal data is used for advertising or sold to third parties.

Information Sharing

Your information is not sold or shared with third parties beyond the analytics tools listed above. Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, and Ahrefs Web Analytics each operate under their own privacy policies, which govern how they handle the data they collect.

Cookies

Nothing that sets a cookie loads until you accept. Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity are held back entirely until then — the scripts are not placed on the page at all, so there is nothing to set a cookie. Ahrefs Web Analytics sets none either way, which is why it runs regardless. If you accept, Google Analytics sets _ga and _ga_<id>, and Clarity sets _clck and _clsk.

Your decision is shared across ootola.com and its subdomains. They are one site run by one person, so being asked separately on each would be a nuisance rather than a choice. The decision is recorded in a single cookie scoped to ootola.com, which every subdomain reads — accept or decline once and it applies everywhere, including subdomains added later. That cookie stores only the decision, when it was made, and which tools it covers. It is the one cookie set without asking, because it exists to record the answer.

The tools differ by subdomain — ootola.com runs Google Analytics and Clarity, dev.ootola.com runs Google Analytics only. A decision covers the tools in place when it was made. If a subdomain later adds one you were not asked about, it asks again there rather than assuming the earlier answer extends to it.

You can change your mind at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer of any page on any of these sites. Declining after previously accepting clears the cookies those tools have already set and reloads the page, since stopping a script is the only thing that actually stops it recording. Clarity also sets cookies on Microsoft’s own domains, which no website can clear on your behalf — your browser’s cookie controls can.
